What is this?

This is pretty basic, there will be a question posted here every week. You have until the following friday to answer it. Send your answers in to answers@projectmentor.net - I'll read each and every answer on the Friday or over the weekend if I get too many, and I will respond with more questions or a discussion about it. I will only respond if you've shown that at least worked on figuring out the answer. I value my time and yours I promise not to waste yours.

Unlike any type of trivia, this is designed to challenge you to learn. If you know the answer already, sending it in doesn't really do anything but waste both of our time. But if you want to take any question to the next level and use the week to do so, then you have captured the essence of why I am doing this.

Participate when you want, there are no commitments. I do have some people that I do this for in a more formal fashion (via phone conversations). If you would like to participate in that show me that you can work at figuring out the answer week to week and we'll get there.

This certainly sounds elitist when I read it back to myself, but I promise all this is born from the idea that most people who want to learn security/infosec just need their first set of projects to get the ball rolling. I look forward to talking to you.

Topics will range from everything from basic IT stuff to Forensics, RE, and Post Exploitation. I try to hit as many levels of difficulty as I can.

If you are reading this and have an idea for a question, I'd love to hear it. Shoot me an email mubix@room362.com and we'll talk.
